Comet Bay College wrapped up its 2022 Defence Technology Program last week with a series of special demonstrations and a thank you morning tea for the Australian Defence Force midshipman who volunteered their time to work with students throughout the 12-week program.
The DTP has been running for three years and aims to build relationships between students and ADF personnel to further enrich our STEM and Career Development programs.
This week, Navy personnel showcased some of the projects they have been working on with our Year 9 and 10 Mechatronics students, and were joined by BAE Systems employees to speak with our visiting Year 4 Nautilus Club members about the role of the Australian Navy in keeping our nation safe and the advance technologies used in ship and submarine designs.
Lieutenant Commander Wes North, who has been involved in the program since its inception, said it was an “excellent opportunity for students to see Navy Engineers in action within a technical environment in the school”.
