A special Light Horse incursion has given our Year 9 students greater insight into the Australian troops’ roles in World War I.
Historian and collector Phil Sullivan visited Comet Bay College recently to share his knowledge of the 10th Light Horseman, including how they formed, their involvement in WWI and what happened to the unit after the war.
His display also included wartime tools, supplies and medals.
Humanities and Social Sciences Dean Kerry Cross described the visit as engaging and informative.
“Phil’s presentation draws what students have been learning out of the textbooks and into something tangible, and that enables them to have a greater appreciation and understanding of the experiences of our soldiers,” she said.
The display was accessible to all students during recess and lunch times.
