Career Success Stories

Comet Bay College’s two Year 12 School to Employment Program (STEP) award winners have recently secured a traineeship/apprenticeship with their work placement provider.
Tom Singline, who received the VET (Vocational Education and Training) Award for 2021, completed a Certificate III in Engineering Technical at South Metro TAFE and work placement at the Water Corporation. After a rigorous interview process, Tom gained an Engineering Associate Traineeship.
Rhiannon Johnson won Comet Bay College’s Workplace Learning Award for 2021 after completing a Certificate II Baking Pre Apprenticeship at South Metro TAFE and work placement at Coles (with very early morning starts). Rhiannon impressed the Coles’ management team and has recently accepted a baking apprenticeship.
Workplace Learning Program Officer Bridget De Silva said both Tom and Rhiannon were great success stories that showed the career opportunities and links to industry available to students through the College’s STEP pathway.
Congratulations, Tom and Rhiannon!
