Comet Bay College gifted the crew of HMAS Warramunga a box full of Poppy Badges handmade by staff and students as a token of our appreciation for their service.
The ship is set to be deployed this week, with crew spending Remembrance Day at sea.
Three of its navy servicemen visited the College this week to collect the poppies, including former student Able Seaman Tomas Swinson who graduated in 2014.
“We’ll be hosting a Remembrance Day Service at sea, so we’ll make sure all the crew get one of the poppies to wear with pride on the day,” he said.
Tomas took time to meet up with former teachers and posed for a photo with his portrait which hangs in our Australian Military History Museum Hall of Honour.
He was joined by Chief Petty Officers Lachlan Parsons and Chris Oliver.
