Hundreds of people enjoyed a celebration of art at Comet Bay College’s inaugural Arts Fest on Saturday.
Guests were also able to vote in the College’s annual Student Art Awards, with presentations on the main stage later that afternoon. Congratulations to Zoe Brown (Year 11) who won the Principal’s Award, Naomi Symonds (Year 8) who took home the Bob Award (Packer’s Prize), Susie Moon (Year 8 ) for the Innovation Award and Irene Van Der Merwe (Year 10) who won the People’s Choice Award. Students now get the chance to vote for their favourite piece with the winner of the Students’ Choice Award to be presented at next week’s assembly.
Teacher in charge of the Arts Ruth Sims said the event was an opportunity to showcase the diverse range of creative programs and facilities on offer at the College.
“The calibre of work produced by our artistic students, whether media productions, visual art creations or stage performances, is outstanding and speaks to both their passion and dedication. We have longed to host a festival to celebrate their achievements and it was wonderful to see so many people delight in everything on offer,” she said.
