Comet Bay College scored a swag of trophies from another stellar performance at this year’s eV Challenge Powered by Synergy last month.
Our students took out the Junior title for the third year in a row, with impressive driving from Year 8 trio Nic Panaia, Luke Taylor and Flynn Read.
Year 9 student Rocco Came – a go-kart racer himself – entered the open class category and was leading the race when his car ran out of power on the final lap. Despite this, Rocco won the fastest lap of the day and finished second overall.
Associate Dean of Technologies and eV Challenge President Clay Woolcock said the College also won Best Presented Car and an Engineering award for car #33.
“It was another great event which generated fantastic results for our students,” Mr Woolcock said. “Thanks go to Calvin Havili, an ex-student who was an amazing help on the day, and to all the parents and families who attended and supported our teams.”
The eV Challenge is Australia’s premier STEM competition and the country’s longest running electric motorsport contest in which teams must design, build and race single-seat electric vehicles.
Congratulations to all participants!
