An outstanding campaign by our Year 9 Boys Basketball team at the recent South of the River SSWA Championship Carnival resulted in six straight wins and a place in the grand final.
Facing a tough competitor in Willetton High School, the boys started extremely well, leading by six points early in the game. However, we were not able to take the trophy this time round, losing in a respectable, hard-fought match.
The boys should be congratulated for their stellar performance which propelled Comet Bay College to its furthest stage in the carnival. Our MVPs for the carnival were Matthew Becker and Ben Thompson who lead the team in every game. Coaches Ben Smith, Matthew Long and Riley Williams should also be thanked for their drive and focus throughout the year.
The boys will now go on to play a one-off “Shield Division” against Shenton College on Tuesday – a match that pitches the best non-specialist schools north and south of the river against each other. Good luck, boys!
