Start-up Business Ideas

A recycling program with incentives for kids, a portable “desk in a box” and a friendship app for lonely seniors are just three of the innovative business ideas developed by our Year 8 Gifted and Talented students for their Just Start It submissions.
The students have been working solo or in small groups to research and market a viable start-up business or app as part of the state-wide STEM-endorsed competition.
They will be competing against some of the state’s sharpest young minds, from schools such as Rossmoyne and Shenton Park Senior High Schools, for a chance to win $5000 for their innovation.
HASS Associate Dean Michelle Statham said she was impressed by the calibre of ideas and passion of the students.
“Just Start It has given our students access to business mentors from Curtin University and the confidence to pursue their creatively and entrepreneurial skills,” she said. “Sometimes the best ideas come from young minds, and taking part in this program has given our Gifted and Talented students a platform to explore their potential. It has been exciting to watch.”
Students will present their ideas in coming weeks.
