The Heart of Science

Our Year 11 ATAR Human Biology students have been studying the circulatory system and spent some time on Friday dissecting sheep hearts.
Associate Dean of Science Laura Ellam said students need to identify the parts of the heart and how the structure of the chambers and blood vessels assists in creating blood flow around the body.
“During the heart dissections, students were able to get a close-up look at the tissues and muscular structure of the heart as well as the blood vessels such as the aorta and pulmonary arteries,” she said.
