Three Year 9 students represented Comet Bay College at the regional Bendigo Bank How Would You Improve Your Community? Competition on Wednesday night.
Sophia Nardone-Kelly, Irene Van Der Merwe and Keely Taylor shared their idea to improve beach safety by installing signs to warn beachgoers of dangers including UV rays, harmful animals and weather conditions, plus bins for old fishing line to be recycled for artwork.
The girls’ Stay Safe Beach Project presentation was heard by a panel of judges and Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin. Despite not winning the regional contest, Keely, Sophia and Irene should be commended for their efforts. Well done, girls!
