Comet Bay College has started collecting food, toiletries and Christmas-themed goods for its annual Christmas hamper drive.
This year, the donations will be distributed by the Salvation Army to local families facing hardship.
Staff, students and community members are encouraged to donate non-perishable items such as meal kits, tinned fruit and vegetables and sweet and savoury snacks, as well as toiletries, cleaning products, baby needs and Christmas decorations.
Associate Dean of Technologies Theresa Walsh is coordinating the project, alongside the College’s chaplains.
She urged everyone to dig deep to support a worthy cause.
“We know a lot of families have done it tough over recent years, especially since COVID-19 hit,” Ms Walsh said.
“When people who can give a little rally together, we can provide plenty of Christmas cheer to families who may otherwise go without. If every student donated just one item, this would provide over a thousand items which will make a big difference to many families at Christmas.”
Students can drop their goods to the library, with community members invited to donate to Comet Bay College’s Administration office.
