House Carnivals a Roaring Success

Wild weather did not dampen spirits as Comet Bay College hosted its annual House Carnivals last week.
The Year 7 event, held on Tuesday, resulted in two ties – Voyager and Challenger won on 1800 points and Navigator and Mariner were second on 1300.
The Year 8s competed on Thursday with Voyager finishing on top scoring 2300 points, Mariner second on 1800, Challenger third on 1300 and Navigator fourth on 1000.
Year 8 student Ashlee Reich received the House Shield for overall winners Voyager.
Students were invited to participate in one of eight events throughout the carnival – The Amazing Race, Basketball, Drones, Glider Challenges, Minecraft, Dance, Lego or an Egg Drop Contest – with each activity giving them the chance to add to their House tally.
A sausage sizzle lunch and fun Minute to Win It-inspired games brought the entire Year group together before the Cup presentations.
Positive Culture Team Associate Dean Philip Waddy said teachers also recognised individual students with special awards presented at the end of each carnival.
“These events give students the chance to pit their skills against their peers while working closely with members from their own House,” he said.
“It’s wonderful to see them all come together at the end of the day anticipating the winner. The House Carnivals encompass everything our Positive Culture Team promotes.”
