Year 10 student Jorja Haines has been selected in the School Sport WA AFL 15 Years and Under Girls State Team.
COVID restrictions and border closures led to the cancellation of the Australian Championships this year, but Jorja will compete within WA in the Pride Carnival in Dampier next month.
She said she was excited to hear about her first state selection.
“It’s going to be a bit of a different competition this year because we can’t travel interstate, so we’ll be playing against a lot of girls from the Pilbara region instead. It should be really good,” she said.
The 15-year-old, pictured with Fremantle Docker Roxy Roux, has been playing footy for two years and is a ruck/rover in Peel Thunder’s Roger Cup team.
Jorja has also registered for Comet Bay College’s all-girl Australian Football Specialist Program for its inaugural year in 2022.
