Comet Bay College’s Year 11/12 Australian Football Specialist Program team won the Simply Energy Cup in the premier “Cable Division” on Wednesday night, defeating Emmanuel Catholic College.
Health and Physical Education Dean and AFSP Coordinator Steve Thomson said it was an outstanding win and performance from the group who fought back from a one-goal deficit in the first half to run out winners by 15 points.
“A title win of this significance is extremely difficult to achieve and was only possible through the commitment and contribution of Head Coach Nic Chidgzey and his assistant Sam Mainwaring, plus teachers Matt Piggott, Matt Bogensperger and Ben Jahn, coupled with the professional and committed approach of the Year 11 and 12 group throughout the season,” he said.
The Cup was presented by legendary Sandover Medallist Barry Cable.
