Shark Tank Showcases Great Ideas

A solar-powered phone, language-translating ear pods and educational website about the LBGTIQ+ community were three ideas developed by our Year 7 Gifted and Talented students for their recent Shark Tank assignment.
Other ideas included a healthy lunchbox app, customisable masks, a cordless vacuum that also handles liquid, a Smart Dart animal tracking device, water-saving shower head and adjustable shoes for people with ankle, foot and leg problems.
The STEM project encouraged students to work as individuals or in small groups to come up with a concept for a new product or service, research its market potential and costs, and pitch the idea to a panel of investors – in this case, Maths Dean Michelle Wood, Gifted and Talented Associate Dean Michael Wood and Dean of Teaching and Learning Melissa Webb.
“All the students did an amazing job with this task, and we were blown away with their creativity, level of research and passion for their product,” Mr Wood said. “We’ve got some future entrepreneurs here and we can’t wait to see where their talents take them.”
