Our science lab looked a little like a home economics class last week, when students used chocolate and egg to evaluate how heat produced chemical and physical changes.
The Year 10 students documented the changes to each food substance after it had been placed in a beaker of boiling water.
Science teacher Laura Ellam said it was important to transfer theory into practice to keep students engaged.
“It is a simple yet effective way to show the students the difference between physical and chemical changes, and students can refer back to these experiments when we recap this theory later in the term,” she said.
