A group of our Year 12 students are sending memories from Australia to former Comet Bay College exchange student Miaki Yoshida in Japan.
Letters from friends, a Leavers Jacket and Tim Tams will be posted to the 17-year-old, who spent 2019 living in Secret Harbour with one of our families.
Host sister Sophie Kerr said the package will be welcomed by Miaki, who acquired a love for Australian food during her visit.
“I really miss talking and laughing with her,” Sophie said.
“She is so funny. Everyone loved her because she was so bubbly.
“We still talk and are in touch on social media all the time.
“Miaki loved it here in Australia – she loved the relaxed culture because Japan is so fast-paced.”
Year 12 Associate Dean of Student Support Justin Holt said Miaki’s time at Comet Bay College provided a great cultural exchange between students.
“Miaki was an asset to this cohort and it’s been wonderful to see the students maintain their close friendship with her despite the geographical separation,” he said.
“We learned a lot from Miaki and we hope, in turn, we showcased the beauty of Australia and its people.”
