Our Year 8 Humanities and Social Sciences Enrichment class is set to erupt!
The students have been building papier-mache volcanoes as part of their geography studies.
Teacher Anne Siekman said the hands-on project encouraged students to draw upon their theoretical understanding of volcanoes and teamwork skills.
“The students have been learning about natural disasters and plate tectonics, with a particular focus on volcanoes,” she said.
“Building their own volcanoes has given students the chance to see how they are formed and why they erupt.
“The volcanoes will be painted and become active, thanks to some bicarbonate soda and vinegar. It will be fantastic to see them erupt.”
