Year 9 student Marley Gunner is a State Softball Champion!
The 14-year-old played in the Rocky ora Softball Club’s Under 16 team and was instrumental in their Junior Softball Championship win earlier this month.
Marley, who plays catcher or centre field, hit a strategic bunt to tie the game in the grand final.
“I was pretty happy with the win,” he said.
“I’ve been playing softball for about two years. I used to play baseball and thought I’d try softball for the winter, and I ended up enjoying it more.
“It’s more fast-paced and suits me a lot better. I play better softball than baseball.”
Marley took home a gold medal for his efforts.
