Our Year 9 and 11 HASS students have enjoyed hands-on learning experiences this term in a bid to improve their engagement and long-term learning.
Mr Treasure’s Year 9 class used hexagonal shapes to evaluate the similarities and differences of various tiers of government. The activity helped the students visualise how they all linked together.
Ms Statham and Ms Hall’s Year 11 ATAR Psychology students used their prior learning to recreate a neuron’s structure with lollies. Ms Statham said the activity was a great way for students to visually recall the structure and function of a neuron for their upcoming test and mid-year exam.
“These two lessons showcase how HASS is differentiating lessons to support our students long-term learning which, in turn, improves our student’s engagement at Comet Bay College,” Ms Statham said.
