Four Comet Bay College graduates are celebrating after successfully gaining placements in their chosen roles in the Australian Defence Force.
Following their enlistment ceremonies, they have commenced recruit training at their respective military bases.
James Hoops is training to become an Air Force Airplane Technician (Gap Year), Kyle Richardson is studying a Science Degree at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), Marli-Jay Robertson is working as a Navy Sailor (Gap Year) and Declan Crockenberg will become a Navy Electronic Technician.
All students graduated in December 2019. Defence School Mentor Claire Hunt proudly attended the former students’ enlistment ceremonies.
“With a very difficult and lengthy selection process, they have made it through the first step on realising their career goals,” she said.
“There are over 10,000 applicants for only 300 Gap Year positions so it is very difficult to be accepted and they should indeed be very proud of their achievements.
“Similarly, applying to ADFA is a highly competitive process and has rigorous testing including interviews in Canberra, for the Officer Selection Board.”
