130+ STUDENTS GAIN THEIR SENIOR FIRST AID CERTIFICATE
STEP (School To Employment Program) teachers Theresa Jennings and Katy Vipond conducted 10 one-day workshops throughout Semester 2 to ensure all Certificate II students gained the valuable qualification.
Students learnt how to treat snake bites, bleeding, asthma and allergies, as well as life-saving CPR techniques.
“For teenagers, knowing how to act in the case of an emergency is very important.
“They are gaining their independence socially – heading to the beach and social gatherings alone – and with that comes responsibility,” Ms Jennings said.
First Aid training is a unit of competency and an essential component in many qualifications and assists students looking for employment in a number of roles.
