Two students will compete against the country’s best athletes at the 2019 Australian All Schools Championships in Perth in December.
Taj Smith, 13, and Lucia Groves, 15, qualified for the national competition after outstanding performances at the State Championships last weekend.
Taj medalled in all four throwing events – discus, shotput, hammer throw and javelin – while Lucia took home silver in the 200m and bronze in the 100m and 400m events.
“Taj and Lucia were dedicated to their training and preparation ahead of the State Championships and the results are a direct reflection of their hard work,” Associate Dean of Health and Physical Education Gillian Hassan said.
“They are incredibly talented athletes and we wish them all the best in the National Championships in December.”
The 2019 Australian All Schools Championships will be held from December 6 to 8 at the WA Athletics Stadium in Mount Claremont.
