Comet Bay College’s Art Expo opened today, exhibiting a large collection of artworks from our talented Visual Arts students, and featuring two short screening sessions showcasing the works of our Media Studies students.
Associate Dean of Arts Bec Lockyer said the Expo was a great way to celebrate the hard work and talents of our students.
“The featured artworks are from all our art students – Ceramics, General Art and Extension Art – from Year 7-12 and includes our Year 12 ATAR production works,” she said.
“We have selected the best examples throughout the year to include in the exhibition.”
The Expo includes four art awards, including a People’s Choice Award, with this evening’s guests invited to vote for their favourite artwork.
There is also Principal’s Award, Students’ Choice Award and The Stevie Award, which is our version of the Archibald Packing Room Prize and is designed to honour our hard-working, behind-the-scenes grounds staff and cleaners who help deliver the Expo. (All three leaders of our grounds staff are called Steve.)
All award winners will receive a certificate of recognition and an Art materials prize pack, with the winners of the Principal’s and Students’ Choice Award appearing on the 2020 Student Diary.
The Expo opens at 4.30 pm, with media screenings starting at 5.00 pm.
All art pieces will remain on display until the end of the year.
