Two Certificate II Commercial Cookery students are busily preparing for the WorldSkills VETiS Commercial Cookery competition which will be held on Friday, September 20.
Year 11 students Leon Blockley Lendon, 17, and Leigh Pratt, 16, will prepare and serve a three-course meal – entrée, main and dessert – to a panel of judges in the three-hour competition.
Leigh, pictured, is eager to pursue a career as a chef and said the competition will test his skills, techniques and creativity.
He had been practising precision-cut carrots and piping dutchess potatoes ahead of the contest, which will be held at South Metropolitan TAFE, Mandurah Campus.
Competitors from across the south metropolitan region will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals, which will be presented at the WorldSkills WA Medal Presentation Ceremony on November 22 at Crown Perth.
The winner may be selected to be part of Team WA at the national competition next year.
We wish both Leon and Leigh the best of luck!
