Year 11 ATAR Geography students were treated to a tour of Alcoa of Australia’s operations in the South West on Tuesday.
Humanities and Social Sciences Teacher Sara Tyrrell said the excursion gave a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s mine site and complimented the students’ studies of bauxite as a commodity.
The students learnt how bauxite was mined, refined and used both in Australia and globally, plus Alcoa’s technologies and world-class environmental rehabilitation.
The students were photographed field sketching the rehabilitation area.
