On Wednesday 15 August 2018, Comet Bay College students attended the Annual School Sport WA Basketball Carnival held at Mike Barnett Stadium Rockingham. Both the Girls’ and Boys’ teams represented the College in an excellent manner, with the girls only losing one game the whole day to basketball specialist school, Rockingham Senior High School.
The boys went through the day undefeated, finishing in 1st place and advancing through to the Champions Cup held at Lesmurdie on the 5th of September. The girls finished in 3rd place (due to percentage) narrowly missing out on advancing. Every student played their part in a very successful day, and are to be commended on their efforts. It was difficult to pick an individual MVP from each team, however from the boys’ team Tom Newson, Dominic Dravitzki and Jackson Klepzig were extremely competitive all day, and showed great composure in close games. From the girls team, Pania Davis, Bronwyn Marino and Sian Nell competed and demonstrated sound leadership skills. A huge thankyou is extended to the scorers and umpires who helped out on the day, and to the parents who made the trip down to watch their kids play, your support was so greatly appreciated.
