On Thursday 3 November 2016, CBC students Jenna Tasovac, Jennifer Chang, Catriona Garratt and Olivia Vockins attended the finalist awards ceremony for the SAY Project 2016.
Students Advising Youth is a competition designed by WA Police to create advertising campaigns about the negative effects of drug and alcohol abuse, and the impact this has on domestic violence. Young people are often reluctant to take on board the advice delivered to them by adults, whether it is about the use of illegal drugs, road safety or any other community safety topic.
Emma Solberg, SAY Project Manager, said “The SAY Project aims to harness their enthusiasm, innovation and creativity to empower them to become educators of other youth on topical subjects.”
The film “Under The Influence” came 7th place in the statewide competition and students were presented with an award from Karl O’Callaghan Commissioner of Police WA and Deputy Premier Liza Harvey. The girls represented the College commendably and should be very proud of their achievement.
