Youth on Health Fest 2016

On Wednesday 7 September Comet Bay College Year 9 Drama Extension and Dance Students students travelled to Mandurah Performing Arts Centre (MANPAC) to compete in the 2016 Youth on Health Festival (YOH Fest) against fellow schools in the Peel Region.

YOH Fest, Western Australia’s biggest youth performing arts event, gives high school students throughout WA the opportunity to take part in an innovative and revolutionary approach to health education.

Our students spent the day rehearsing both back stage and in the theatre. Working around this years theme of Resilience, students were to create and perform an original piece. Our Dance team won the award for Original Choreography and Drama Extension won the award for Well Developed Storyline.

“Our students performed with pride and professionalism and behaved in an exemplary manner. The students are still buzzing from their achievements and we are very proud!”

– Jenna Lund Drama Teacher

“My Year 9 Drama Extension class entered this year’s YOH Fest at MANPAC. Throughout devising process and the practise sessions of the day we grew stronger as a ‘family’. The whole day was enjoyable, and our performance was FANTABULOUS!”

– Maddy Ball Year 9
