As the warmer weather approaches, it’s time to start thinking of how to protect your child’s skin when out and about on the school grounds.

To avoid skin cancer please encourage your child to always look to sit in the shade and if this is not possible, slop on some sunscreen, slip on sunnies and a hat.

Send them to school with a small container of sunscreen or find it at student services or the gym.

Comet Bay College is an asthma friendly school and therefore aerosols are banned. Aerosols can cause an asthma attack and can be life threatening. If your child is seen to be carrying an aerosol on him it will be removed to be collected at the close of day in student services. Alternatives are using roll on deodorant or a natural crystal body deodorant stick.

If your child has a medical diagnosis e.g. asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, anaphylaxis or a general health condition then a Medical Action Plan is essential so the school can work to keep your child safe when at school. The Department of Education sends these out on enrolment and then every year to be updated and the information disseminated to the school community. If you can return these updated forms as soon as possible then we can all work together to keep your child safe.
