After studying Medieval History in Term 2, Year 8 students were able to get a more hands on taste of medieval life at the Comet Bay College Medieval Fayre.
Students participated in many medieval themed activities. After trying their hand at chess, nerf archery, bicycle jousting or being ‘locked in the stocks’, students could indulge their tastebuds in a medieval soup (courtesy of the Home Economics Department), or, if they dared, try out the ‘potions’ concocted by Year 9 apothecaries in Science class.
Freshly made ivy crowns weaved by Robin Allomes were a popular item and Mackenzie Browne showed off her cross-stitch skills. The Comet Bay Maypole Dancers entertained the crowd with their ye olde school dance moves while Tevita the Great wowed the crowds with his sleight of hand and sorcery.
Thanks to all the students and teachers that participated and helped, especially those behind the scenes. Special thanks to the Year 8 and 9 GATE students for their help in running and organising the Fayre.
