Erupting Volcanoes

There were several eruptions last Friday as our Year 8 students used bicarb soda and vinegar to bring their papier mache volcanoes to life!
The students had been working on the project for several weeks, studying, constructing and painting volcanoes as part of their Humanities and Social Sciences studies.
Teacher Anne Siekman said the project was a favourite among students, who loved the science behind the eruptions.
“It’s a little messy, but a great chance for students to get out of the classroom and into the sunshine for hands-on learning,” she said.
“Some eruptions happened quicker than others and it was good to see students analysing how they could have improved their design for greatest impact.”
