Change Maker Festival

On Tuesday, 9th October 2018, Student Leader representatives attended the City of Rockingham’s inaugral Change Maker Festival. The festival was designed for young people who are passionate about community, want to have an impact on this world, or are interested in becoming a change maker. The event included a series of guest speakers and workshops on change making, leadership and advocacy. Students were able to choose from a local emerging issue including; Environmental, Mental Health, Family Domestic Violence and Homelessness. They were divided into groups according to their chosen topic, established a plan of action and presented their ideas back to the group. Students were also linked with relevant organisations and experts according to their topic of interest. The day was an incredible success with CBC students working collaboratively with students from SMYL College, Baldivis Secondary College, Malibu School, and a number of home educated students, to develop plans where they could implement small, positive changes for their community.
