Mentorship Program

To ensure students receive personalised support, each ATAR student at Comet Bay College is paired with a mentor – a senior teacher at the College who offers guidance and oversight throughout Years 11 and 12. Mentors meet regularly with their mentees to:

  • track academic progress and provide constructive feedback on assessments and assignments;
  • offer study tips and help students develop effective study routines and organisational skills;
  • identify and recommend additional resources, including tutoring, study guides, and online platforms, to help students strengthen their understanding; and
  • assist with goal setting and career planning, including discussions about university applications, entry requirements, and potential career pathways.

This mentorship fosters close relationships between students and teachers, creating an environment where students feel supported both academically and personally.

Wellbeing Support

Recognising the demands of ATAR studies, Comet Bay College prioritises student wellbeing alongside academic achievement. The College provides regular mental health and wellbeing workshops to help students manage stress, build resilience, and maintain a healthy balance. These workshops cover topics such as:

  • stress management and relaxation techniques;
  • time management and organisational skills;
  • strategies for balancing school work with extracurricular activities and personal time; and
  • guidance on developing a positive mindset, especially during exams and high-stakes assessments.

Additionally, the College’s Student Services team is readily available for one-on-one support, ensuring students have access to counselling services and other mental health resources if needed. Through this holistic support system, Comet Bay College empowers its ATAR students to thrive academically while maintaining their wellbeing and personal growth.
