Assessment
Our Assessment Policies ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed by encouraging a collaborative effort between students, parents, and staff. They guarantee assessments are fair and valid, catering to diverse ability levels. By integrating assessments into daily learning, we provide valuable feedback and accurate reporting, keeping parents/guardians well-informed about their child's progress. Our flexible approach accommodates students with special programs, ensuring assessments remain relevant and equitable for all learners.
Good Standing
A code of conduct is important for students to understand College expectations surrounding their behaviour, attitude and attendance. Our Good Standing Policy encourages engagement, promotes positive behaviour, fosters accountability and responsibility and supports a safe and respectful environment. It also helps staff identify students in need of support. Students who meet Good Standing expectations are invited to participate in extracurricular activities, privileges, and events.
Preventing and Managing Bullying
Comet Bay College's Preventing and Managing Bullying Policy is crucial for maintaining a safe, supportive environment where all individuals can thrive. It addresses the need for a unified approach to behaviour management by promoting an inclusive atmosphere in line with our College values of Responsibility, Respect and Safety. Bullying is a universal issue for young people and school communities globally, and the misuse of power among peers impacts students' wellbeing and academic performance. Our policy emphasises early intervention, whole-school prevention strategies, and clear procedures for addressing incidents. It fosters positive behaviour, engages the entire school community, and supports students while working to change bullying behaviours. By implementing these strategies, the policy aims to ensure every member of the school feels safe and respected.
Student Use of Technology
Comet Bay College’s “off and away” policy aims to minimise distractions and enhance learning by prohibiting mobile phones, smartwatches, and listening devices during school hours. These devices can divert students’ attention from their studies and disrupt the classroom environment. By enforcing this policy, the school ensures a focused and engaging learning atmosphere, free from interruptions caused by technology.
Uniform and Dress Code
At Comet Bay College, the uniform fosters a sense of unity, pride, and belonging among students, representing their membership in the College community. It ensures a professional and cohesive appearance, reinforcing respect and discipline. Compliance with the Uniform and Dress Code Policy is a shared responsibility among students, parents, and staff.
