SPECIALIST PROGRAMS

Australian Football Specialist Program

Our Australian Football Specialist Program provides rising footballers with expert coaching, advanced strategies, and conditioning. Endorsed by the West Australian Football Commission, it develops football skills for boys and girls in Years 7-12.

Gifted and Talented Program

The Gifted and Talented program offers enriching, high-level educational experiences tailored for students with outstanding academic abilities. Through engaging and inspiring learning environments, the program encourages students to pursue excellence daily.

Arts

There are five Extension programs within our Arts Department for students who demonstrate exceptional creative aptitude within the disciplines of Dance, Drama, Media, Music and Visual Arts.

Health and Physical Education

Comet Bay College offers exceptional sporting education through its elite Physical Education Extension and Basketball Extension Programs, designed for students committed to athletic excellence. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Cadet Programs

Comet Bay College proudly offers two cadet programs: CBC Maritime Cadets for Year 7 students, focused on maritime skills and cadet basics, and Training Ship (TS) Comet, part of the Australian Navy Cadets for ages 12 to 18. Both programs build teamwork, resilience, and leadership — qualities that benefit students throughout life.

Clubs

A diverse range of clubs operate within the College, providing opportunities for students to develop skills, explore passions, and collaborate with peers in supportive, hands-on environments.

Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Awards encourage students to build resilience, leadership, and practical skills through personal challenges and community service. This program fosters independence, boosts self-confidence, and provides valuable life experiences that support students' personal and academic development.

Nautilus Club

The Nautilus Club and Nautilus Master Class at Comet Bay College nurture Gifted and Talented students from Years 1-6 through specialised learning experiences, fostering academic growth from an early age. Weekly sessions offer students foundational skills, preparing them for future success and earning high praise from educators, parents, and students alike.

ENGAGEMENT AND WELLBEING PROGRAMS

Checking In and Checking Out

Checking In and Checking Out Girls Wellness Program empowers students to manage stress, build resilience, and develop social skills. Through mindfulness, peer conflict resolution, and self-care techniques, girls gain tools to navigate academic and personal pressures, fostering confidence and emotional wellbeing in a supportive, small group setting.

Defence School Mentor Program

The Defence School Mentor Program at Comet Bay College supports students from Australian Defence Force (ADF) families during school transitions caused by relocations or parental absences. It helps students adapt to new schools, rebuild friendships, and maintain stability in their education despite frequent moves, ensuring a smoother experience for Defence families.

GirlZ Life Skill Program

The GirlZ Life Skill Program supports at-risk teenage girls by fostering self-confidence, responsibility, and school engagement. Through experiential activities, it promotes belonging, resilience, and awareness of risky behaviours, aiming to improve attendance, behaviour, and communication skills, while connecting students with external support and peers.

Growing Good Blokes

Growing Good Blokes program helps young men thrive through leadership development, character building, and community involvement. This initiative fosters respect, responsibility, and empathy, guiding boys toward becoming confident, well-rounded individuals ready to navigate life's challenges.

REACH

Our REACH Program, mandatory for Years 7 to 9, nurtures students' growth through Resilience, Emotional Awareness, Careers, and Health. Integrating Social and Emotional Learning, it teaches life skills like stress management, empathy, and decision-making, while career guidance helps students plan pathways with confidence.

RISK Program

Comet Bay College's RISK Program equips Year 7 and 8 students with essential survival and life skills, fostering resilience, teamwork, and emotional regulation. Through activities like camping and first aid, students build confidence and problem-solving abilities. Due to high demand, early application is encouraged.

Rock and Water

The Rock and Water program helps boys build resilience, self-confidence, and emotional balance. Through physical exercises and mental strategies, it teaches assertiveness ("Rock") and adaptability ("Water"), helping students manage stress, improve communication, and resolve conflicts.

Warriors

The Warrior Program helps students manage anger, stress, and emotional regulation through practical training under "The Warrior Code." Emphasising self-discipline, teamwork, and respect, the program covers survival skills, first aid, and tactics, using laser tag for hands-on learning in a supportive, structured environment.
