Once a student has successfully gained a place in the Gifted and Talented Program and enrolled at Comet Bay College, they will follow a differentiated program of study designed to accelerate their learning through advanced and in-depth learning. Students enrolled in the Gifted and Talented Program at Comet Bay College are strongly supported throughout their studies with:

  • Academic profiling;
  • GROWTH coaching;
  • Careers/future educational pathway counselling and guidance;
  • Targeted social and emotional support and education through the innovative Pastoral Program;
  • Additional tutoring;
  • Extra-curricula enrichment activities; and
  • Extension opportunities outside of MESH (Maths, English, Science and HASS) subjects.

A key highlight of the program is access to extracurricular opportunities, including participation in competitions, leadership development, and community service initiatives such as The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. These experiences enrich students’ educational journeys and broaden their personal growth.

We place great emphasis on pastoral care to support the social and emotional wellbeing of our Gifted and Talented students. Students participate in weekly pastoral care sessions specifically designed to meet their needs. They are supported by a dedicated team, including the Dean of Gifted and Talented, Associate Dean of Gifted and Talented, as well as additional pastoral care staff such as the Dean of Student Support, School Psychologist, Chaplain, and School Nurses. We are committed to nurturing the whole student, ensuring they thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

In Years 11 and 12, our Gifted and Talented students select General, ATAR or Vocational Education and Training pathways where they will join classes with students not in the program. However, the Gifted and Talented students will continue to be supported by staff and peers through such programs as after-school tutoring, ELEVATE Study Skills Education and engagement with an array of university experiences.
