The RISK (Resilience Impartation through Survival Knowledge) Program at Comet Bay College fosters resilience and life skills in students in our youngest students. The program teaches our Year 7 and 8 students the importance of building resilience during adolescence, aiding students in overcoming challenges and recovering from setbacks. Using a team-based approach, RISK promotes self-confidence, communication, and a sense of community. Students engage in survival skills such as camping, shelter building, fire-lighting, first aid, and navigation, alongside essential life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership. The program supports emotional regulation, teaching students to manage anger, anxiety, and stress appropriately. It promotes emotional awareness, coping strategies, self-confidence, and positive choices. The RISK program includes a mandatory outdoor adventure excursion each semester to apply skills in real-life scenarios.
Student must apply for the RISK Program. Due to its popularity and limited spots, early registration is recommended, prioritising those who benefit most.
