A dozen Year 12 students enrolled in our Peer Mentor Program have been spending their recess and lunch breaks checking up on our newest students.
The Mentors spend time both during class and in their breaks meeting and assisting our Year 7s to help with their transition to high school.
Program coordinator Brianna Player said the Mentors provided a friendly face for younger students to turn to in times of need.
“Sometimes the younger students want some simple guidance, but don’t necessarily want to turn to their teachers,” she said. “The Year 12s are great role models who were all the small fish in the big pond not too long ago.”
