CBC Defence students were invited to attend HMAS Stirling Family Day on Thursday 25th January. They had the opportunity to visit many of the areas on Garden Island to see where their parents worked and attend tours of some of the facilities not normally open to civilians.
Family friendly activities were prepared and the swimming pool was open for everyone to cool down after the tours. Free sausage sizzles, icecreams & slushies were also available, much to the delight of the children.
HMAS Stuart (an Anzac class frigate) was open for tours. Stuart is a long-range frigate capable of air defence, surface and undersea warfare, surveillance, reconnaissance and interdiction.
Thanks go to HMAS Stirling’s Commanding Officer Brian Delamont for hosting the event, and all the Navy & Army service members who staffed the displays.
