Comet Bay College has recently become a member of the Global Citizenship Schools. This program, run by United Nations Association of Western Australia (UNAAWA), is designed to increase awareness of the latest global developments and the role of the United Nations.
Year 10 students who are currently studying Civics and Citizenship were lucky enough to have a visit from a volunteer speaker for this program – Rees Barrett and his wife Anne, who are both passionate about increasing awareness of young people’s role in solving global issues.
Rees spoke to the students about the history of the UN and Australia’s involvement in its creation. He also highlighted their current work on the sustainable development goals.
We are very much looking forward to pursuing the opportunities this membership has to offer across the school and will keep you updated with any future events.
