Congratulations to Comet Bay College student Rachel Jones for winning the high school competition “How would you improve your community”, sponsored by Bendigo Bank.
This subject matter generated some great ideas from our students. Rachel’s winning entry titled “Childhood Pavement Games.” was a simple concept, but something that should be a great addition to Rockingham, particularly for the younger members of our community.
Rachel’s idea will be implemented by the City of Rockingham.
Well done Rachel.
Rachel had to win her school’s section of the competition before going up against nine other winners from the Rockingham area. They were judged in front of a large audience at Murdoch University. The final presentation was held in November at Rockingham Council Buildings.
Pavement games like hopscotch, mazes and alphabet steps will be permanently painted on neighbourhood pavements, for children to enjoy.
