Recently HMAS Stirling hosted the annual Walk to Work Day at Garden Island.
Navy members and their families participated in a 4km walk or run across the bridge from Point Peron Road to the Fitness Oval on the Navy Base.
Prizes were awarded for the fastest times in various age groups.
Well done to Kyle Richardson who came 2nd in the running event, in his age category 16-18 years. Fantastic effort!
Defence Parent, Lex Davison also came second in his age category.
Former Comet Bay College student Iain Parker sang a few songs as part of the entertainment.
Local services for the Defence Community held stalls at the event, including Claire Hunt our Defence Transition Mentor – representing the defence student program we run here at Comet Bay College.
A carnival atmosphere was in full swing by the time the participants made it to the oval, with free rides, ice-creams, coffee, information stalls, entertainment and activities for everyone involved.
