Excursion report written by Shenae Vuletic, Yr 11 ATAR student
Whilst studying Nazi Germany, my year 11 Modern History class visited the Holocaust Institute located in the Jewish community in Yokine. This experience vastly expanded my knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust and the life-long impacts from this event.
We also met Hank, a Dutch survivor of the Holocaust, who presented his extremely inspiring tale of survival which truly touched everyone in the room. The Year 11 History class would like to thank Margaret for presenting such valid information for our upcoming exams and Hank for his unforgettable bravery. It was a this truly memorable experience.
We were able to view primary source photographs which depicted many heartbreaking experiences, as well as being guided through the era of 1933 – 1945 in Germany by a lovely woman from the Institute. Margaret shared with us an overview of this period of time, including practices of prejudices and personal stories, to truly create an authentic and unforgettable experience.
