INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC SCHOOL SERVICES
The Department of Education’s Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) coordinates and delivers high quality, inspirational instrumental tuition to more than 20,000 students enrolled in more than 450 primary and secondary Western Australian public schools. IMSS delivers group and individual instruction and ensemble direction for a diverse range of ensembles from rock bands to symphony orchestras and everything in between.
The art of music is a significant contributor to the cultural, social and economic wellbeing of all people. Learning to play an instrument offers our students the opportunity for deeper involvement in music. Through access to high quality teaching, students can discover and explore their talent for music. Instrumental students experience the social, emotional and cognitive benefits of learning music as well as gaining opportunities for self-expression and experiencing the joy of music making.
