Year 8 Trade Fair

There was a carnival atmosphere at Comet Bay College on Wednesday as our Year 8 students opened their stalls for the annual Trade Fair.
The task was for students to work in groups to come up with a profitable product or service, develop a comprehensive business plan, design and promote their stall and manage sales. It is all part of their Economic studies.
This year’s event offered portraits, origami, pet rocks, home-made bath salts, jewellery, crocheted characters and artworks, as well as plenty of fun games such as Nurf targets shooting, ten pin bowling, football kicking skill tests and cup pong.
HASS Associate Dean Michelle Statham said students would analyse their business after the Trade Fair, evaluating what worked and where improvements could be made.
“The event is always great fun and the students get really passionate about their ventures,” she said. “What’s really great for us to see are the tools and skills they draw upon to deliver a successful, money-making idea.”
