NAIDOC Week 2022

Comet Bay College students have been working on a series of NAIDOC-inspired projects during their English classes this week, celebrating the theme Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!
Our Year 7 students were asked to create an infographic on the different Indigenous weather and calendar systems, backed by research of Indigenous environmental and land management practices.
Year 8s learned about Indigenous art history, focussing on the works of Perth artist Jade Dolman. They completed a WebQuest on different forms of Aboriginal art including body painting, wood carvings, canvas, rock art and textiles.
Year 9 students created a ‘shout out’ poster celebrating an Indigenous Australian’s achievements, with celebrities from sporting and entertainment arenas proving popular choices.
Our HASS Department dedicated their front foyer display to NAIDOC Week, promoting Indigenous entrepreneurs.
NAIDOC Week is held during the school holidays, from July 3 to 10.
