Fun in the Sand!

If you think high school students don’t get to play – think again!
Our Year 11 ATAR Geography students rolled up their sleeves and returned to the sandpit recently, for some educational fun using Comet Bay College’s interactive sand table.
The technology allows students to create and map their own landforms.
Humanities and Social Sciences teacher Sara Tyrrell said the 3D modelling allowed students to better understand the complexity of topography.
“The students were asked to form ridges, plateaus and convex and concave slopes to study how different types of relief look on a flat, topographical map,” Mrs Tyrrell said.
