A Step Back In Time

Jousting, trebuchet throwing, maypole dancing and catapult demonstrations were all part of the fun at our Medieval Fair last term.
Our Year 8 knights and fair maidens were invited to wear period dress, as they shared their Term 3 studies about medieval history and the Black Death with the rest of the College.
The festivities also included board games, an artist stall, sewing and tapestry, a 14-piece orchestra, and medieval food and potions.
Humanities and Social Sciences Associate Dean Michelle Statham said students had worked hard making artefacts, dioramas, timelines and other displays to make this year’s Fair the biggest and best yet.
“We’ve been hosting a Medieval Fair at Comet Bay College for several years and this year it was extended to an all-day event due to popular demand,” Ms Statham said.
“It enables us to showcase and celebrate a big part of our Year 8 HASS curriculum – our medieval history studies – which is a popular subject among students.
“It’s been lovely to see the other Learning Areas join the fun with our Home Economics staff and students providing medieval treats, our Science team creating cool potions and our Technologies staff helping with our many props. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this year’s Fair a huge success.”
