Escape Hunt Team Building Activity – Year 7, 8, 9 Gifted & Talented Students

As part of the Comet Bay College ethos of ‘Seek Excellence’, the Gifted & Talented Program wanted to promote the vision in creating a positive learning culture and as such the students in Year’s 7, 8 and 9 were invited to participate in a special reward excursion to recognise and reward consistent, positive behaviour, effort and attitude demonstrated throughout Semester 1.

Below is an article written by Year 7 students who participated in this very worthwhile activity along with photos from the experience.

On the 26th of June, the years 7, 8 and 9 GAT students went to the Escape Hunt to learn the importance of team building. By working together in allocated groups of five, we were able to figure out how to escape the rooms containing difficult puzzles, testing our problem-solving skills. It was a fun experience for everyone involved and no one was left out. It was also a great way to socialise and meet new like-minded people.

Every room had a theme, for example pirates or wizards. The pirate’s storyline featured a pirate who died with his treasure hidden. The wizard’s storyline was about a school that got cursed with a spell you have to break. Even with a timer, most groups got along well and were able to escape, but for those who didn’t make it in time, they worked just as hard.

We went to the Esplanade for lunch where we also participated in team building games. We were paired according to famous couples, including Cinderella and Prince Charming, Batman and the Joker and even Lilo and Stitch. The day was a great success and students were able to write about their experience during the bus ride back to Comet Bay College.
